Ashland Musical Variety Show

The Ashland Musical Variety Show was founded by creator/director/producer Sue Watson in 1982 and has been a major regional attraction for nearly 30 years. It is the single biggest fundraiser for its sponsor, the Hanover Arts and Activities Center. The 2009 show capped off a year of celebrating Ashland, Virginia ’s 150th birthday. Boasting a cast and crew of nearly 400, all three of its performances at Randolph-Macon College were sold out. This “Backstage Pass” clip provides a behind-the-scenes overview of the show, titled “Our Ashland Grand Celebration.” The 2-hour show and several special features are available in a 2-disc DVD set from WulfTeam Productions. See our local talent perform original musical numbers as well as YouTube sensations like “The Mom Song” and “Dance Evolution.” The DVD features a stellar soundtrack by award-winning producer Bill McElroy of Slipped Disc. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each DVD benefits the non-profit Hanover Arts and Activities Center.

The Circuit City Story

Following a successful world premiere at the Virginia Film Festival in November, WulfTeam Productions is proud to announce that its feature-length documentary, “A Tale of Two Cities: The Circuit City Story,” will debut in Richmond at the historic Byrd Theatre on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Alan Wurtzel, former Circuit City CEO and son of the company’s founder Sam Wurtzel, is scheduled to introduce the film.

The documentary chronicles the fascinating 60-year history of the Richmond-based retailer – from its humble beginnings as the family-owned Wards TV, to its meteoric rise to become the nation’s largest specialty retailer of consumer electronics, to its tragic downhill slide into bankruptcy and liquidation last year. The documentary tells the tale of two “Cities:” one that went from good to great, and the other that went from great to gone

The December 8th screening of “A Tale of Two Cities: The Circuit City Story” is co-sponsored by the Virginia Film Office, WTVR, Virginia Commonwealth University, and the University of Richmond’s Robins School of Business. Anchor/reporter Sam Brock is scheduled to emcee. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $7 through the film’s web site, www.CircuitCityStory.com, or purchased at the door for $10.
