Ashland Musical Variety Show

The Ashland Musical Variety Show was founded by creator/director/producer Sue Watson in 1982 and has been a major regional attraction for nearly 30 years.  It is the single biggest fundraiser for its sponsor, the Hanover Arts and Activities Center.  The 2009 show capped off a year of celebrating Ashland, Virginia ‘s 150th birthday.  Boasting a cast and crew of nearly 400, all three of its performances at Randolph-Macon College were sold out.  This “Backstage Pass” clip provides a behind-the-scenes overview of the show, titled “Our Ashland Grand Celebration.”  The 2-hour show and several special features are available in a 2-disc DVD set from WulfTeam Productions.  See our local talent perform original musical numbers as well as YouTube sensations like “The Mom Song” and “Dance Evolution.”  The DVD features a stellar soundtrack by award-winning producer Bill McElroy of Slipped Disc.  A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each DVD benefits the non-profit Hanover Arts and Activities Center.
